Tokyo Station
A number of buildings around tokyo station have observation areas overlooking the station, so we thought we would take a look before going to sort out our rail passes. However two out of the three were closed/being renovated! We were at least able to go out on top of the Kitte building to look out over the old station building and shinkansen tracks.
Sagamiko Illumillion
Once it was starting to get dark, we headed out of the city on the train for about an hour, into the hills surrounding Tokyo. We were going Sagamiko Illumillion, one of the largest winter illuminations in Japan with apparently over 6 million led lights. It’s held at Sagamiko Resort Pleasure Forest, which seemed to be part country park, part theme park. The hills/field areas were covered in lights pretty walkways, and the ride area was also decorated with lights and displays of characters from this year’s collaboration – Sumikko Gurashi, yay!
