Gyeonghuigung Palace
We started this day by catching a bus to Gyeonghuigung Palace, which we were planning to be our starting point for a hike following the city wall up to Inwangsan peak.
However, once we got here I soon realised I wouldn’t be able to do the walk after all. A nasty blister had got so bad that I could not put any weight on the ball of one of my feet. Seeing how far the peak looked in the distance meant we had to change plans.
Jeongdong Observatory
We had another iced drink break and then I hobbled slowly to Jeongdong Observatory – a free viewing floor at the top of a government building.
It had a good view over Deoksugung Palace in one direction
And the city hall and library in the other
Over by the city hall was a large inflatable of Hechi, the mascot for Seoul
We then went back to the hotel so I could rest my foot for a while. A bit later we had a very un-korean meal at a highly rated American themed burger place that was very close to our hotel.
So the rest of the day wasn’t completely lost, we went on the subway to an area that has a shopping mall we’d seen recommended for anime merch. Luckily every floor had seating areas, so I sat whilst Mike looked around!
Hongdae
After the shopping mall, we went on the subway again to Hongdae, where there were a few more shops we wanted to visit before we headed back to the hotel
