Haeundae Blueline Park
For our first full day in Busn we were going to be exploring the Haeundae area that we were staying.
I had managed to book us tickets for a Sky Capsule at Blueline park – it’s very popular and weekend tickets sell out quickly so I had to book them as soon as they went on sale at 1am a few weeks earlier!
The booking is for a whole capsule, so you don’t have to share with other people. The cute little carts follow a raised track along the coast. It was a bit grey and cloudy and not quite the sunny image Busan is known for, but there were still nice views over the sea and towards the city.
After 30 minutes we reached the end of the sky capsule journey at Cheongsapo. A short walk from the station was the Daritdol Skywalk, a large glass bridge going out over the sea.

Liberta Cafe
We stopped to have lunch at a nice cafe overlooking the sea. Cafe culture is huge in Korea and you were never far from one, which was great because the heat and humidity meant we needed a lot of stops for iced drinks throughout our days!
This cafe had extremely tasty freshly baked sweet and savory items and we opted for strawberry matcha lattes to go with them – one hot, one iced.
After lunch we continued to walk back along the coast – a walking trail follows the sky capsule route back to the start.
Along the way was another skywalk out over the sea.
Once back near the main Haeundae area we could see the second tallest building in Korea looming over the tracks.
Haeundae Sand Sculpture Festival
A short walk from our apartment was the huge sandy Haeundae beach. The annual sand sculpture festival was taking place, so we had a look the various creations. The theme for this year was the history of Busan, so the larger sculptures were based on the city.
Gwangalli Drone Show
In the evening we attempted to go see the free drone show at Gwangalli beach, the next bay along from Haeundae. I say attempt because I took us the wrong direction on the subway (the stations had very similar names!) so we had to double back. This, combined with the walking time Naver maps gave us from the station to the beach being vastly underestimated, meant we only managed to catch the latter half of the show!
