Day 2 - Reykholt to Husavik

Víðgelmir Cave

We started the day with a tour of Víðgelmir cave, a huge lava tube.

Glanni Waterfall

After our tour of the cave, we then set off on the longest drive of the holiday, all the way up to Husavik on the north coast where we’d be spending the next two nights. We had a few stops planned to break up the 5 hour journey, the first of which was Glanni Waterfall. Unfortunately it decided to start raining a lot just as we arrived, even though it had been sunny most of the drive there!

Kolugljufur Canyon

Another stop to break up the long drive to Husavik, and again it went from sunshine to rain just as we arrived! We still had a short wander around a waterfall and canyon.

Glaumbær

Stop three, and yup, it started to rain again! But by now we had learnt to wait 5-10 mins and it will probably stop, which it did. We went inside some traditional turf houses, one of them was surprisingly big with many rooms going further back than you could see from the outside

Akureyri

This was just a quick stop for dinner rather than an explore of the town. However, one thing we did see was that all of traffic lights here have hearts shaped red lights.

Goðafoss Waterfall

The final break on our long drive was at Godafoss Waterfall
