Iceland 2022
A road trip around route 1 on Iceland. This trip was originally planned to be for the 10 year anniversary our honeymoon in Iceland, but it was delayed 2 years by Covid. Once able to travel again, we decided to go a little later in the year than our first trip and experience the spring flowers and birds, as well as 24 hour daylight

Day by Day
Day 1 – Keflavik to Reykholt
After arriving at Keflavik airport, we collected our car and headed to our first hotel in Reykholt
Day 2 – Reykholt to Husavik
A long trip to Husavik with lots of stops to break up the journey
Day 3 – Husavik
A day in Husavik, going to a nature reserve, whale watching and seeing the midnight sun
Day 4 – Husavik to Myvatn
We followed the Diamond Circle route to our next hotel in Myvatn
Day 5 – Myvatn to Egilsstaðir
A day exploring the volcanic sites at Myvatn before driving to Egilsstadir
Day 6 – Egilsstaðir to Jökulsárlón
Driving through the Eastfjords, ending the day at the the famous Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon
Day 7 – Jökulsárlón to Skaftafell
A glacier filled day with a boat trip and glacier hike
Day 8 – Skaftafell to Skogarfoss
We visited a few more spots in the Vatnajokull area before continuing along the south coast to Skogar
Day 9 – Skogarfoss to Hveragerdi
A day with lots of waterfalls and lots of puffins
Day 10 – The Golden Circle
A drive around the popular Golden Circle route
Day 11 – Hveragerdi to Keflavik
Our final day before flying back first thing the next morning
