Day 11 - Hveragerdi to Keflavik

Reykjadalur Valley

We started our final full day with a hike up through the Reykjadalur geothermal valley, not far from where we’d stayed.

It was a bit of an uphill slog since we were now rather tired from days of walking, but there was a reward at the end – a river where hot spring water mixes with meltwater, resulting in the perfect temperature for a nice warm soak!

Gunnuhver

After the walk back from the river, we made our way around the Reykjanes penninsular towards our final stay near the airport. It was a lovely evening so after dinner we headed back out and went to Gunnuhver, the largest hot spring in Iceland. It was producing so much steam!

Valahnúkur

Our final spot before heading back to pack was Valahnúkur, looking out to Karlinn rock

There was a huge group of Arctic Terns by the road on the way back
